PS Plus October 2023 free games release time, date, line-up and final warning

PS Plus subscribers are counting down to the release of the free PS4 and PS5 games for October 2023. The next batch of PlayStation Plus Essentials have an October 3 release date. The games will be available to download and play from around 10am BST UK time, so there’s not long to wait. The October line-up is headlined by horror game The Callisto Protocol, which was created by the director of the original Dead Space.

The Callisto Protocol is a third-person horror game set in a maximum security prison full of monsters.

Sony explains more: “In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game set 300 years in the future, the player will take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto.

“When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos. To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto.”

The Callisto Protocol is joined by Farming Simulator 22, which puts players in charge of a huge farm.

“Take on the role of a modern farmer!” reads the official description. “Agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry offer a huge variety of farming activities while you face the challenges of the four seasons, especially when winter sets in.

“Creatively build your own farm and extend your farming operations with production chains – forming an agricultural empire! Even run your farm together with friends and enjoy crossplatform multiplayer together.”

Highly rated action role-playing game Weird West is the final game launching as part of PS Plus in October.

“Discover a dark fantasy reimagining of the Wild West where lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures, each playing with their own rules and their own peculiar motives in this isometric action RPG.

“The game supports different styles of play in a simulated sandbox world where characters, factions, and even places react to a player’s decisions, and players are faced with brutal choices and consequences that can’t be undone – including death.”

With the new games launching on the morning of October 3, subscribers only have a short time left to redeem the September PS Plus games.

This includes open-world action game Saint’s Row, as well as Black Desert Traveller Edition and Generation Zero.
