Outriders coming to Xbox Game Pass on launch day

Outriders, the upcoming third-person loot game from People Can Fly, will launch on Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft confirmed Monday. Players who have a Game Pass subscription can download the game on April 1 or play it using Microsoft’s cloud gaming service, which is currently in beta.

The announcement comes a few weeks after players first got their hands on Outriders via its playable demo, which allows players to take their progress into the full game. In our impressions of the demo, we noted how refreshing it is to have useful loot only hours into the game — a good sign for how Outriders may treat its loot come April 1.

Outriders takes place on a distant planet called Enoch. After getting colonized by humans, something goes horribly wrong and players get thrown in stasis for years. They emerge with special powers decades later, and have to help their friends — now much older — reclaim the planet.

Players can choose from four different classes and group up with two other friends to explore Enoch and earn some loot. Outriders also operates differently from most loot games, as People Can Fly made it clear the game isn’t a live service game — meaning there are no additional updates planned, and all the endgame content will be available to players at launch.

Outriders will also launch on Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC via Steam. The game features full cross-play, so Game Pass friends can play with buddies on PC, for instance.
