Returnal’s Free Ascension Update Is Adding Campaign Co-Op And Survival On March 22

We’ll start off with Sony’s recent State of Play broadcast which showcased several interesting titles from its Japanese partners. There were plenty of standout titles, but the highlight for many will likely be the announcement that Returnal is getting free DLC later this month. The “Ascension” update brings with it campaign co-op as well as a new survival mode that has Selene fighting her way through the Tower of Sisyphus – a clever name if you know your Greek mythology.

Sony Has Suspended All PlayStation Sales In Russia

Game publishers across the globe have been showing their support of Ukraine by pulling their products from the Russian market. Sony is now the latest publisher to do the same, having announced that all software and hardware sales will be suspended and that even the PlayStation Store will be shutting in Russia. The publisher has also made a $2 million dollar donation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to help victims affected by the war.

Gotham Knights To Launch In October 2022

Gotham Knights was also in the news today as Warner Brothers has announced that the game will launch this year on October 25. The news was revealed via the official Gotham Knights Twitter account, so it’s pretty much locked in barring any delays. Several Warner Brothers properties have been delayed over the past year, with rumors that the upcoming Suicide Squad game is also getting pushed into 2023. At least we now know we have one confirmed DC game coming in 2022 at least.

Nintendo Delays Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Due To Ongoing Ukraine Invasion

Nintendo seems to be more aware than most other publishers out there regarding the situation in Ukraine and is doing everything it can to not come across as insensitive. As a result, Nintendo has delayed the upcoming Advance Wars remaster for an unspecified amount of time, likely because launching a game that focuses on the invasion of fictional countries at the same time that a country in real-life is being invaded wouldn’t be in great taste.

Itch.io Raised $2 Million For Ukraine In Only One Day

Finally, we’ll leave you with a feel-good story regarding Ukraine as the gaming community is doing everything it can to help out in some way. Indie platform Itch.io recently announced that a whopping bundle of just under 1000 games is currently on sale and that all proceeds will be going towards helping victims in Ukraine. This bundle has proven quite popular, as it managed to reach its $2 million goal in just a single day. The bundle is still up and the goal has been extended, so you can check it out here if you want to help out or just want a massive bundle of quite good indie games.
