Just as it did with the original Nioh, developer Team Ninja will give select PlayStation 4 owners early access to Nioh 2 as part of a closed alpha test. That alpha test will run from May 24 to June 2.
On Twitter, Team Ninja said that the closed alpha is designed to “to help gather feedback for the development.” It sounds like the alpha will be limited to a small pool. “To ensure the team can manage the feedback, there are no plans to expand the alpha at the moment, but please keep an eye on our channels for more info in the future,” Team Ninja said.
If Nioh 2’s development is anything like the first game’s, there may be future opportunities to playtest the sequel before its official release. Team Ninja and publisher Koei Tecmo offered alpha and beta test demos for the original Nioh and incorporated player feedback from both into the final game.
Nioh 2 was announced at E3 2018 with a brief teaser. A new trailer for the game, released Wednesday, offers a look at gameplay from the fantasy action-RPG and its promised character customization.
