Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s ‘new immersive mode’ delayed to spring

Fans of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Ubisoft’s open-world tactical shooter, have been waiting for a new update for some time. On Monday, the developer said they’d have to wait a little longer; the new “immersive mode” won’t be out next week as promised. Instead, fans will have to wait until later in the spring.

“The complexity of integrating this new mode has proven to be a challenge and we want to ensure that the experience will be a great one when it releases,” Ubisoft said in a news release. “The immersive mode will still release this Spring, we’ll share more firm timing as soon as we are able.”

Ubisoft said that a new class, known as the Engineer, and additional Episode 2 content will be released at the same time.

Breakpoint launched in October 2019, but the game didn’t sell as well as the French company had hoped. Leadership noted that investors should expect “a sharp downward revision in the revenues expected from Ghost Recon Breakpoint” just a few weeks later. Since that time developers have been scrambling to squash bugs and alter gameplay in the hopes of reinvigorating the flagging franchise.

Ubisoft says the new mode has been designed in response to customer feedback on the original game, which focuses on co-operative tactical action. Today’s news release says fans should expect more information on March 5.
