Destiny 2: Season of Opulence trailer teases new six-player activity, returning Exotic rocket launcher

Bungie just revealed the first trailer for Destiny 2: Season of Opulence. This is our first look at the season’s offerings before Bungie releases it on June 4.

The trailer is only a minute long, but shows off some interesting new activities and loot. The focus is on the Menagerie, Destiny 2’s first non-raid six-player PvE activity. It takes place on Calus’ Leviathan — where Destiny 2’s first raid took place — and offers Guardians new way to earn weapons and armor.

According to the trailer’s narrator — who sounds suspiciously like the believed-to-be-dead Speaker — the Menagerie is actually Calus’ lost treasure vaults. While we don’t have exact details yet, the mode looks similar to wave-based modes like Blind Well or Escalation Protocol.

The trailer also mentions that players can choose their own loot in Menagerie. The reveal post goes into more detail, saying players will earn a chalice from Menagerie where they can set specific runes to tell the game what kind of loot they want. Players can upgrade their Chalice for better rewards later on in the season.

Anyone who has beaten the Destiny 2: Forsaken’s campaign can try out Menagerie once for free as part of the Power Surge quest. The quest rewards 690 Power gear, and Season of Opulence’s new cap is 750 Power. Any player who wants to tackle the Crown of Sorrows raid must complete the Power Surge quest first.

The trailer also shows off Truth, the Exotic rocket launcher from Destiny. According to the roadmap for Season of Opulence, a quest for Truth will appear in-game on June 11.

We’ll likely learn more about Season of Opulence on May 30 with Bungie’s weekly blog post.
