Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare’s fifth season is coming out on Aug. 5. The season’s release date was revealed by a tweet from the official Call of Duty Twitter account on Sunday.
The new season for Modern Warfare and Warzone has been teased for a couple of weeks now, but this tweet is the first official information about its release. The initial teases, which came via short video clips that Infinity Ward sent to specific Warzone and Modern Warfare streamers, seemed to hint at a few of the changes that could be coming this season, including the stadium finally opening up and a possible nuclear blast on Verdansk. Despite these teasers, we still have no idea what might actually be coming in the new season.
Even the Aug. 5 date for the season isn’t a complete surprise thanks to these teasers. Each one came with a specific time code at the top right of the screen, but they all had the same date, Aug. 5. Thanks to that hint most players seemed to have correctly assumed that the patch for the new season would go live on Wednesday.
As usual with Modern Warfare and Warzone patches, it’s probably a good idea to start clearing off hard drive space now no matter what platform you’re planning to play on. In the past, season-sized updates could range anywhere from 20 GB, 80 GB, or even 100 GB if the game decides you need to re-download something important. There’s no official word yet on what time Warzone’s season 5 patch will go live, but it should be sometime on Wednesday morning.
