Borderlands 3 coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X right when they launch

Borderlands 3’s next-gen console version launches on the same day as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S, 2K Games announced on Monday. All players who own the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One get the upgrade for free.

All add-ons and save files from the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game, which launched last October, carry over to the newer console (in the same family), too. The next-gen versions of Borderlands 3 support 4K resolutions at 60 frames per second.

Borderlands 3, on all four consoles, will have vertical split-screen, two-player local cooperative play. The feature will be patched into Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Nov. 10 and Nov. 12, respectively. Gearbox Software also has other updates coming to the game, in the form of premium downloadable content, which will include new skill trees for all character classes, Action Skills, and a new game mode.

Additionally, Gearbox said last month that cross-platform play would be coming sometime next year.

Borderlands 3 is available now on Google Stadia, Mac, PS4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
