During Nintendo’s 2019 E3 presentation, the company revealed a new joint project with Square Enix: Trials of Mana.
Trials of Mana is a HD remake of Seiken Densetsu 3, the third game in the Secret of Mana series, which never made its way outside of Japan.
The game is broken up by characters, who each have their own sub-plots. The characters all have sprawling storylines that show where they come from. We saw a small girl chase after her parents, another lady using sweet wind-like abilities, though we can likely expect the characters to come together sometime during the game.
Seiken Densetsu 3 originally released for the Super Famicom in 1995. The rest of the Mana games before this installment did eventually make it state-side, but the third game did not. The game originally was a top-down styled JRPG, but this remake has completely changed the game into a fresh, modern RPG.
Trials of Mana will release in early 2020 for Nintendo Switch.
