Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s next fighter coming at The Game Awards

The next fighter coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be revealed Thursday at The Game Awards. Nintendo announced the reveal of Ultimate’s next round of downloadable content on Twitter, asking fans to tune in to Geoff Keighley’s annual awards event for the latest.

The Game Awards 2020 will kick off at 7 p.m. EST/4 p.m. PST on Dec. 10, and can be viewed on streaming services like YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and Facebook Live. More information about how to watch The Game Awards and what to expect are available in our post.

The next DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will follow Steve (and Alex, Enderman, and Zombie) from Minecraft. Nintendo released Ultimate’s Minecraft content in October. Min Min from Arms was added to the game in June.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s next fighter will be the third included as part of Fighters Pass Vol. 2. All six characters in that pass — plus new stages and music — will be released for Ultimate by Dec. 31, 2021, Sakurai said during a Nintendo Direct Mini presentation in January. The first Fighters Pass added Joker from Persona 5, Hero from the Dragon Quest series, Banjo and Kazooie, Terry from Fatal Fury/The King of Fighters, and Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses to Ultimate as paid content.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released on Nintendo Switch in December 2018. It’s one of the best games on Nintendo’s handheld console.
