When Mario, Sonic, and their pals return to the world’s greatest sports stage in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, they’ll be partaking in the Olympics’ newest competitions, Nintendo announced Tuesday during its E3 2019 Nintendo Direct presentation.
Karate, skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing are making their Olympic debuts in Tokyo, and the gameplay footage of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 during the Nintendo Direct showed off Sega and Nintendo characters competing in some of those activities. Other sports showcased in the trailer include Olympics mainstays like boxing, soccer, swimming, and gymnastics.
The game will offer a variety of control schemes, including motion controls with the Switch’s Joy-Con pads, as well as multiplayer in local split-screen and online play. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be released this November exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
