If you’re still holding out hope that Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 could get a 2021 release on the Nintendo Switch then you’ve just received a timely boost. In the run-up to E3 2021, which Nintendo will be taking part in this year, Zelda fans have been delivered a bit of an update on the development of Breath of the Wild 2. Monolith Soft – best known for the Xenoblade series – has provided development support for a number of first-party Nintendo games such as Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing.
And they’re at it once again, helping out on the development of the hugely anticipated Breath of the Wild 2.
And as fans wait for an update on how work on BoTW 2 is progressing Monolith has revealed they’re hiring for a “big increase” at its Kyoto studio.
Dozens of new roles are listed on Monolith’s site, and while most are not related to a specific game five of the openings are to do with The Legend of Zelda series.
Which likely is related to work on Breath of the Wild 2.
Nintendo announce Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is ‘in development’
News of the job openings were reported by GamingBolt, and could be a sign that development on BoTW 2 is kicking up a notch.
That can only be good news for those hoping Breath of the Wild 2 will get a 2021 release date, but we’ll have to wait and see.
We could see more news on Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 drop during E3, with Nintendo’s big June Direct set to make a return during this year’s edition of the major gaming expo.
Besides Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, what Nintendo has planned for the series’ 35th anniversary is another big talking point for fans.
February marked 35 years since the Zelda series first launched, but unlike the Mario 35th Anniversary Nintendo didn’t announce how they were going to mark this occasion around the time of Link, Zelda et al’s big birthday.
Rumour has it Nintendo could reveal more about the Zelda 35th Anniversary plans during its E3 Direct.
And we may have found out exactly what Ninty’s has up its sleeve, thanks to leaker Nate the Hate.
In a new YouTube video Nate the Hate along with MVG discussed what Nintendo could have planned for 2021.
And speaking specifically about the Zelda anniversary, a double pack release of Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD was suggested.
Other Zelda games tipped for a Switch release include HD versions of N64 classics Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask.
Nate the Hate and MVG predicted these games to be getting eShop releases though instead of being bundled together with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
We won’t have too long to find out for certain though, with E3 taking place between June 12 and 15 as a digital event. The June Nintendo Direct will take place sometime between then.
