While fans wait on the next big announcement from Blizzard concerning WoW TBC Phase 2, there has been growing speculation regarding other areas of the Classic experience.

Having proven so popular when it arrived in 2019, most WoW Classic realms have moved over to The Burning Crusade.

And with Phase 2 of the WoW Classic TBC expected to arrive soon, it’s hard to see a lot of players returning to the base experience.

That was until Blizzard launched a new public test realm of World of Warcraft Classic, featuring Phase One raid content.

This doesn’t mean that the World of Warcraft Classic team are looking to launch new servers that would allow fans to begin again in Azeroth.

But based on fan reaction, there is a good chance that something like this would be well-received.

Discussing the new online, fans have shared their own reactions, with one positively posting:

“I played OG vanilla, vanilla private servers, and classic when it came out. While I’m enjoying TBC as it’s my favourite expansion, I would certainly play fresh if it came out while I’m raid logged in TBC.

“Something about vanilla WoW that will never get old. You can try something new every go around. Next time, I’m going to the other faction to play a class I’ve never played before.

Another added: “It’s hard to explain; it’s not for everyone but I’ll try to explain my POV. New server, new faction, class all of it combines to meeting new people/friends, memes created.

“A lot of this gets lost towards the end of the game. For example, right now trying to jump into classic would be difficult for most. Lack of groups to level with, server pop, everything is already defeated on the server so lack of excitement is gone.”

World of Warcraft: Tease the Burning Crusade Classic launch

There is no guarantee that something like this will happen but with surveys reportedly sent out containing questions regarding fresh servers, there’s always a chance of something big being announced in the future.

Not much has changed when it comes to getting closer to a WoW TBC Phase 2 release date, although some recent changes have been made to the PTR build.

The WoW Classic TBC Phase 2 patch notes have been updated, with Blizzard listing these changes as being added to the final World of Warcraft release:

PvP Rewards

  • Outland factions’ PvP gear now unlocks with Phase 2 and requires Revered reputation to purchase.
  • These are items sold in Thrallmar, Honor Hold, Cenarion Expedition, The Sha’tar, Lower City, and the Keepers of Time.
  • The reputation requirement will be adjusted to Honored when Sunwell Plateau is released, to match the original Burning Crusade patch 2.4.
  • Honor will not be reset at the beginning of Season 2. When Season 1 ends, there will be a two-week off-season period. When Season 2 begins, any remaining unspent Arena points will be converted to Honor Points at a rate of: 1 Arena Point = 10 Honor Points.

Raid Rewards

  • High King Maulgar, Gruul the Dragonkiller, and Magtheridon will drop two Tier 4 tokens each when Serpentshrine Cavern and The Eye are released.
  • Leothoras the Blind, Fathom-Lord Karathress, Lady Vashj, Void Reaver, and Kael’thas Sunstrider will drop 2 Tier 5 tokens each.

For now, we don’t have a WoW Classic Burning Crusade Phase 2 release date, but fans are hoping for an announcement before the end of the month, followed by a possible launch in September 2021.
