UPDATE: Demon’s Souls Remake Gameplay On PS5 Revealed

UPDATE: After the initial trailer showed Demon’s Souls Remake as coming to PC, Sony now claims that the game will actually be PS5 exclusive.

Demon’s Souls Remake gameplay on the PS5 has finally been revealed, showcased in all of its maddening glory amid Sony’s live PlayStation event.

The rumors of a Demon’s Souls Remake gameplay showcase were true. A host of improvements to the original experience can already be felt, from enhanced combat to breathtaking visuals. It’s truly a remarkable return to the dark and menacing world of which has now become one of the most beloved franchises and stress-inducing playthroughs in all of gaming.

Initially released all the way back in 2009 on the PlayStation 3, Demon’s Souls returns with life-like detail via Bluepoint Game’s next-gen remake. The short snippet of gameplay follows the player on their first-ever boss encounter, facing off against the menacing winged Penetrator. Nearly over a decade later, and that “You Died” message flashing across the screen remains as frustrating as ever, yet still all the more tantalizing and sleek in its modern redesign.

Gavin Moore, SIE creative director, explains in an interview with PlayStation Blog:

“It was essential to us that we recreated Demon’s Souls in such a way that longtime fans are transported back to the Boletaria they love. It’s the Boletaria that has been growing and maturing in their imaginations for over a decade.  A place where every room, corner, and corridor has a story to tell. Here, the original characters, encounters and battles are brought to life in greater fidelity, making the story even richer and darker.”

Built from the ground up, Bluepoint’s Demon’s Souls Remake is already a gushing return to days of old, while still retoriffiting the experience with next-gen proponents, from 3D audio to enhanced graphics. Hopefully, a large portion of the cut Northern limit area makes a fantastic return.

According to Geoff Keighley on Twitter, Demon’s Souls Remake will be a launch title, making Sony’s next-gen platform an even more viable option over Microsoft’s contending systems. Even so, you won’t have to grab a PS5 to experience this remake, as Wario64 relates Demon’s Souls will be coming to PC in the near future, akin to several other PlayStation titles, namely Death Standing and Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Demon’s Souls Remake launches side-by-side with the PlayStation 5 on November 12 for $69.99.
