Ubisoft Adds Yule Festival To Assassin’s Creed Valhalla As Its First Seasonal Event

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla received its first-ever event this week in the form of the Yule Festival, running until January 7. The seasonal event adds new weather patterns, new activities, and a bunch of exclusive loot.

Valhalla’s Yule Festival was teased during the game’s last update, but you can now officially join in on the holiday fun. “The Settlement is expanding, and the revelers have arrived to host numerous festivals throughout the year. And to kick off the month, they’ll be throwing a Yule Festival,” said Ubisoft. This limited-time event will add new activities to the settlement, including drunk brawls, archery challenges, and plenty of other ways to kick back after a day of a-viking.

Joining in on the winter games is worth your time, too, as you’ll be rewarded with Yule Tokens that can be exchanged for a long list of exclusive gear. Here are a few of the items you can purchase:

  • Modraniht Ceremonial Outfit
  • Modraniht Tattoo Set
  • Modraniht Ceremonial Seax
  • Modraniht Ceremonial Shield
  • Traditional Yule Garland
  • Sacrificial Alter
  • Ritual Tree Ornaments
  • Cozy Fire Pit
  • Yule Beech Tree

It’s worth pointing out you’ll need to complete one story arc (either Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire) before gaining access to the Yule Festival. The above rewards are only available during the event – which runs until January 7 – so get to celebrating while you can.

Ubisoft also gave us a look at the next big expansion coming to Valhalla, called the River Raid Update. Launching in February 2021, the River Raid Update will add new abilities to Eivor’s skillset, and you’ll have a new game mode where you can test them out. There will also be three new maps containing gear, silver, runes, Books of Knowledge, and plenty more. Ubisoft plans to release more details next year – stay tuned for updates.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla had an impressive showing in 2020, quickly becoming one of the most popular games on next-gen consoles. It recently added XP Boosters to the in-game shop – to mixed reviews – but overall it’s been an impressive showing for the latest Assassin’s Creed title.

The Yule Festival is now live in Valhalla and will run until January 7.
