The Serious Sam Collection Runs Screaming Onto Stadia

Five new games were recently announced to be arriving on the Google Stadia this year, two of which belonged to very beloved series. Panzer Dragoon: Remake will be hitting the Stadia later this year, and the Serious Sam Collection will be making its way to the game streaming platform as well.

Developed by Croteam and published by Devolver Digital, the Serious Sam Collection includes Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, and Serious Sam 3: BFE. The trailer begins by showing viewers various landscapes throughout the series, including desert- and ruin-themed areas, as well as an outer space environment.

An enemy then charges Sam “Serious” Stone, only to be blasted apart by him. Then, an army of the same enemy charge Sam. Sam’s response is, “Party time.” The trailer can be seen below.

The rest of the trailer shows the series’ incredibly smooth and fast gameplay mechanics that are reminiscent of Duke Nukem and similar FPS games. Weapons to be used in the collection include numerous shotguns, a minigun, explosives, a grip device, rifles, handguns, and more.

The collection will also include cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, including deathmatch, in addition to the ludicrous single-player experience.

The Serious Sam Collection appears to be one of Google Stadia’s most intense titles coming this year. The collection has been released on other platforms before, but the trailer for the collection’s Stadia release show incredibly flashy visuals alongside a smooth frame rate and intense action sequences.

Of course, the Serious Sam Collection‘s release on Google Stadia may be meant to tide fans over until the release of the next Serious Sam title, Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass. While a trailer was released for the game, little has been heard about it since.

That is presuming the Stadia audience includes fans of the games and others open to the eclectic FPS. The Stadia has often been criticized for its lack of content and the slew of older titles currently on the platform. The platform still has life in it, with at least 10 new exclusives on the way this year, though hopefully, other titles like the Serious Sam Collection and Panzer Dragoon: Remake will give Stadia owners a reason to keep on playing.
