The Mandalorian Season 4 Is Already In The Works

Executive Producer on The Mandalorian Jon Favreau recently confirmed that a fourth season of the show is currently in the works. The Mandalorian began back in 2019 before skyrocketing to success, prompting the company behind the series, Disney, to begin work on a second season which came out a year later in 2020. The third and fourth seasons are expected to be released in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

The show follows a mercenary by the name of Din Djarin as he plies his trade in a galaxy far, far away. While the first season saw Din exploring planets like Nevarro, Sorgan, and Tatooine which are all on the Outer Rim, the second season had the mercenary meeting several beloved characters including Bo-Katan Kryze and Ahsoka Tano. Fans of the franchise are expecting its third season to be full of even more surprises, possibly a visit to the Core Worlds. What the fourth season has in store is mostly a matter of speculation at this particular point in time.

Speaking to Cinema Blend at the Star Wars Celebration earlier this week, Favreau talked about how the writers on The Mandalorian could take their time when it comes to the upcoming seasons of the show, allowing the spin-off currently being made by Executive Producer Dave Filoni, Ahsoka, to inform some of their work. "With television, we're very lucky that we don't have to rush things through into an hour and a half, two hours. We get to tell stories slowly,” Favreau noted. “So now, as Dave’s doing Ahsoka, it's very much informing the writing that I'm doing for Season 4. It becomes, how should I put it, more precise."

This confirmation on the part of Favreau comes in the wake of hints to the same effect from the actor playing Moff Gideon, Giancarlo Esposito. There have so far been only rumors about a fourth season of the show, making the remarks by Favreau especially poignant for fans of the franchise.

Shortly after letting slip that a fourth season is currently in the works, Favreau mentioned that crossovers between The Mandalorian and its spin-offs could be on the horizon, meaning that Din might just be making an appearance in Ahsoka at some point in the near future. Favreau described the situation as "very fertile ground for imagination, for storytelling.”
