Technoblade Fans Raise $500,000 For Cancer Research In Memory Of Beloved Streamer

Fans of the popular Minecraft streamer Technoblade recently raised over $500,000 for cancer research in memory of the beloved content creator. The news broke on June 30, 2022 that he passed away from cancer, but the community created by Technoblade continues going strong. Fellow streamers Dream and TommyInnit have also been making headlines over the course of the past couple of months by raising money for cancer research.

Technoblade apparently knew that his time was going to be cut short, producing a short video that was to be published on YouTube following his death. "Hello, everyone. Technoblade here. If you're watching this, I am dead, so let's sit down and have one final chat. My real name is Alex," the streamer said. "Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had another 100 lives, I think I'd choose to be Technoblade every single time as those were the happiest years of my life. I hope you guys enjoyed my content and that I made some of you laugh and I hope you all go on to live long, prosperous, and happy lives because I love you guys."

The money raised for cancer research is going to be donated to the Sarcoma Foundation of America which aims to “advocate for sarcoma patients by funding research and by increasing awareness about the disease.” The organization raises money to “privately fund grants for sarcoma researchers and conducts education and advocacy efforts on behalf of sarcoma patients.” The group was apparently “a non-profit organization that was incredibly important” to Technoblade.

The organization published some words of thanks to the streamer. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Technoblade. His generosity and selflessness were evident when he was able to rally his fans and followers to raise over $500,000 for Sarcoma Foundation of America to date. Reading the many tributes left to him online, we know he was beloved by his millions of fans and followers. We are overwhelmed by their outpouring of love, support, and generosity and want to thank everyone who made donations in his honor.” The group added that “we will honor Technoblade, now known to the world as Alex, by using funds raised to continue to fund research in his name.”

The content creator was honored by the Sarcoma Foundation of America on September 28, 2022 with a Courage Award. According to the group, the Courage Award is “given annually to sarcoma survivors or advocates who illustrate, through their personal efforts and actions, sarcoma advocacy. These individuals are advocates who inspire others by using their platform on behalf of sarcoma patients and survivors to create hope and a better life for the sarcoma community. Technoblade was a shining example of a Courage Award honoree.”

“He will be forever in our hearts for his valiant battle with sarcoma,” the organization asserted. “If he were here, he would tell all others fighting cancer, keep your head up king.”
