Starfield is still many moons away from being a contender for game of the year, but that hasn't stopped Bethesda from talking about their upcoming sci-fi epic at great length. Nor has it stopped eager fans from delving up whatever they can find about Starfield. This latest leak of a smartwatch manual likely to be included in the collector's edition release proves just how eager those fans can be.
Late last night, a Reddit user posted this smartwatch manual to the Starfield subreddit. Called the "LPV6 Chronomark Smartwatch," it's designed by the UK-based prop and merchandise producer The Wand Company, which specializes in making functional devices from TV, films, and video games. You might remember The Wand Company thanks to their line of Poke Balls, or from their past projects with Bethesda for making die-cast Fallout vehicle models.
The watch face is labeled with "Chronomark" and "est 2188," which likely reference an in-game company and time period. The LPV6 is an Android device that can connect to phones via Bluetooth for additional functionality.
That said, the LPV6 seems to come with plenty of functionality on its own. The manual notes menus for a barometer, weather forecast, sunrise/sunset and moon phase info, an accelerometer, and a magnetometer. There's also a torch mode to turn the whole thing into a flashlight.
As noted by VGC, one of the earliest Starfield trailers Bethesda released showed a box that seemed to have this very watch inside. You can see it around the 1:30 mark. Given the latching box of this expensive timepiece, we can safely assume that both will be included in Starfield's collector's edition.
Bethesda has been pretty quiet for the first two weeks of 2022. Last we heard from Starfield, Todd Howard was wishing us happy holidays alongside a few teaser images showing some of the game's exotic locales. As much as everyone might enjoy a year of Starfield teasers, I'd be cautious about overhyping a game that's not due out until November.
