Spending money to make money

Grand Theft Auto 5 may have launched all the way back in 2013, but it's still one of the most popular titles today. A big reason for this is the game's GTA Online mode, which has been consuming gamers' free time like few others can.

Whether robbing convenience stores, banks, or simply stealing nice cars and selling them on, Grand Theft Auto Online is a criminal's playground.

All those luxury penthouses, supercars and weapon stashes don't come cheaply though – and Rockstar offer a boost to player finances with a range of GTA Shark Cards – boosting your bank balance.

We've got a list of the different cards below, as well as the best prices for each.

Red Shark Cash Card – $100,000

Not the most cost-effective of purchases (higher amounts are always better value for money when it comes to Micro-transactions), but this card can give you the boost you need to pick up some of the game's older vehicles or weapons.

TheGameCollection – £1.95

Amazon – £1.99

Tiger Shark Cash Card – $200,000

Again, not the most efficient way of spending your cash, but this will get you a decent start to life as a virtual criminal – with a sports car or two and a decent arsenal.

Cdkeys – £2.99

Amazon – £3.29

Bull Shark Cash Card – $500,000

A cool half-mil offers a chance at the higher range toys on offer in GTA Online. Why not buy two Insurgent Pick-Ups so you and your friend can cause chaos across Los Santos together.

Amazon – £3.29

TheGameCollection – £5.95

Great White Shark Cash Card – $1,250,000

It's at this point where things start to resemble better value for money, and where you can start to look at the high-end supercars. If it was up to us, we'd go for the Bugatti-ish Adder.

Cdkeys – £11.49

Amazon – £11.99

Whale Shark Cash Card – $3,500,000

Despite costing more than the game itself these days, the Whale Shark card certainly offers a hefty boost to your bank balance. For this price, you can buy an actual tank and have change left over.

Cdkeys – £22.99

Amazon – £30.99

Megalodon Shark Cash Card – $8,000,000

Hey big spender – if you're really looking to invest in your avatar, then why not dominate the skies in a fighter jet or a flying car. Or, you can buy two tanks – Los Santos is your oyster.

Cdkeys – £39.99

But what if you want to buy everything GTA 5 has to offer? It's possible, yes, but the cost isn't for the faint of heart. You're looking at around £3000 to be able to buy every vehicle – and that doesn't account for upgrades to said vehicles, or weapons, properties and customisation options. Be careful out there.
