Brenden Aaronson and Steven Bergwijn get a really interesting World Cup showdown FIFA 23 SBC ahead of the Netherlands v USA game this weekend. They are relatively affordable, and both cards stand a chance of an upgrade if their team wins. They're also higher-rated at 86 compared to the group stage World Cup showdown SBCs.

This short guide gives an overview of how to complete each card, how much they cost with the required players, as well as a deep-dive into the card's stats. We also give an overall review on whether these cards are worth the coins/fodder or not.

How Much Is The Showdown SBC?

Each SBC costs around 50k to complete. With the potential for the cards to be upgraded to an 88-rated with a win, that is only 20k below the price of 88s on the market, which cost around 30k.

How To Complete The Showdown SBCs

Here are the squad requirements for each card.

Brenden Aaronson Steven Bergwijn
  • 83-rated squad with a TOTW player
  • 83-rated squad with a TOTW player
  • 84-rated squad
    • 84-rated players are currently selling for around 3k
  • 84-rated squad, no special requirements
    • 84-rated players are currently selling for around 3k

These are relatively affordable SBCs that can likely be completed with fodder from your club as it doesn't require any higher-rated 85, 86, or 87 rated players.

Fodder is still at an all-time high, including 84-rated players. You might want to save these base cards for a more interesting SBC in the future, although that is entirely up to you.

Should You Complete The World Cup Showdown SBC?

Here's a closer look at both of the cards.

Brenden Aaronson Steven Bergwijn
  • 93 Pace, 95 Acceleration
  • 92 Pace
  • 80 Shooting, 88 Attack Positioning and 81 Long Shots
  • 85 Shooting, highlights being that killer shot power at 92
  • 90 Dribbling, with key stats in 96 Balance and 98 Agility, big FIFA meta stats
  • 89 Dribbling, with 95 Balance but with 85 Agility, which is a weird split – poor composure at 83 as well
  • 82 Passing, including 90 Vision and 83 Short Pass
  • 82 Passing, great for a Striker, with 86 Short Passing
  • No mentionable traits, Four-Star Skill Moves, Three-Star Weak Foot
  • Flair, Outside The Foot Shot, Four-Star Skill Moves, Three-Star Weak Foot

At a glance, both cards have some definite strong points. Aaronson's dribbling is a highlight, whereas Bergwijn's strength and dribbling really stand out.

Who is more likely to win the game between the Netherlands and the USA? At the moment, it's around a 50% chance that the Netherlands win which would guarantee an upgrade for Bergwijn. However, this World Cup has been full of surprises, so it really is a gamble here and who knows what might happen.

How Do Showdown Cards Upgrade?

It's pretty simple: if the team wins, the card gets a base +2 upgrade. The card that is on the losing team stays the same as its SBC. That would bring both cards up to 88-rated players, with a boost across the board for their stats.

Both SBCs are relatively affordable, with Bergwijn being the standout card here. Although he is hard to link (plays for Ajax in the Eredivisie) there are fantastic cards to go alongside him with the Netherlands (Van Dijk and various Icons and Heros), plus some really decent Eredivisie cards like Gakpo. Aaronson is a solid pick-up for a CAM role in the Premier League, although the USA makes it harder to link this card to anything decent. Out of these two, if you were thinking of completing one, then Bergwijn is the safest bet here, both for a useable card and some sweet 88-rated fodder.
