Shiny Pokémon Have Been Added To Mystery Dungeon On Nintendo Switch

For all intents and purposes, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX will be an updated version of the 2006 originals, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team. Although the recreation will stay true to the spirit of its predecessor, the 2020 title will also contain an entirely new feature: shiny Pokémon.

Gameplay footage containing a shiny pink Ampharos within the upcoming Mystery Dungeon recently surfaced on YouTube, confirming that shiny variants will make their way to the title. This news is guaranteed to excite those who are looking forward to the game, and will probably lead to players going to incredible lengths to obtain a shiny version of their favorite monster.

It only makes sense that 2020’s Mystery Dungeon would include shinies, as the variations were not nearly as popular back in 2006 as they are today. In the earlier mainline Pokémon games, shiny Pokémon were incredibly difficult to come by, and the online community wasn’t nearly as strong as it is today, leaving players without a place to show them off.

Fast forward to 2020, and shiny Pokémon have become massively popular. This is mostly thanks to Pokémon GO, the mobile game that made shiny Pokémon slightly more common, in turn increasing their popularity not only in GO, but in every other Pokémon title as well.

People will spend hours on end to find a shiny version of their favorite Pokémon, and discovering one in any game is normally a very rare occurrence. Pokémon GO even holds a monthly event, called Community Day, which encourages players to go out with the incentive of an increased chance to catch a new shiny Pokémon.

Given all of this shiny hype, one can imagine why Nintendo would opt to include the variants in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX. If they were left out, it’s easy to assume that Pokémon fans would not be happy, and if we’ve learned anything from the lead up to Sword and Shield’s release, you don’t want to make Pokémon fans unhappy.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX will be released on March 6 for the Nintendo Switch, and will contain Pokémon from the first three generations of the franchise. It’s an excellent opportunity for fans of the original to experience a trip of nostalgia, and a chance for newcomers to enjoy the game as well.
