Salt And Sacrifice: Complete Guide To Crafting

Quick Links

  • All Mage Equipment
  • Crafting Cheat Sheets

One of the ways that Salt and Sacrifice takes inspiration from the Monster Hunter series is through its crafting mechanics. In the game, you will encounter and defeat a whole host of mages and their minions, who will drop various materials. You could sell these items for a pittance or put them to good use, turning them into pieces of equipment.

You can craft equipment at the forge in Pardoner's Vale, just northeast of Champion Hera. The fiery forge allows you to create items, and the nearby enchanting table allows you to upgrade them. Getting better equipment is one of the best ways to get (and feel!) stronger in Salt and Sacrifice.

All Mage Equipment

The tables below detail the various pieces of equipment that you unlock by defeating a certain type of mage. Every time you defeat a new mage type, you'll unlock the following for crafting:

  • A set of weapons that use the same elements as the mage you defeated.
  • A set of armor that is particularly good at resisting the same elements as the mage you defeated.
  • A ring, amulet, and dagger that have special effects.
  • A trophy that may be displayed in your hut.

To get the key to your hut, speak to the NPC next to the Hunter Item Upgrade table once you've crafted at least one trophy. The hut is to her right.

Specifically, these tables contain the types of weapons, the class and type of armor, and the effects of the accessories they unlock. There are five tables, sorted by the location you will first encounter the mage type.

To craft these items, you will need only the items that the mages themselves (and the enemies they summon during a chase) drop.

Crafting Cheat Sheets

Here, you'll find two handy tables that summarize some of the information from the previous section.

First, here's a table that lets you know which mages you should be hunting, based on whether you focus on Light Armor or Heavy Armor.

Armor Class 2 Class 3 Class 4 Class 5
Light Pyromancer

Thaumamancer

Aeromancer

Kinetomancer

Dracomancer

Second, the following table shows which mages you'll need to hunt to acquire certain weapon types. This is useful for planning out which weapons you'd like to unlock in your Tree of Skill, as you can plan out two or three weapon types that cover most, if not all, elements in the game.

The order that the mages are listed in correlates to the Class of the weapon they provide for that category. For example, the Thaumamancer Bludgeon is Class 2, while the Bibliomancer Bludgeon is Class 5. Higher Classes of weapons are not necessarily stronger in stats, but they will often have stronger and more varied Glyphs/Runic Arts to work with
