Roblox, which boasts more than 43.2 million daily active users worldwide, is suffering a major outage across the United States, the UK and mainland Europe. The issues, which have left players unable to access the servers, started last night (Friday October 29, 2021) and have continued into today.
Roblox is a platform that enables players to craft their own mini-games to share with others to play. It has gained huge traction in recent months due to the pandemic and lockdown measures enforced across countries worldwide. Roblox has a younger fanbase than some of the biggest online multiplayer games, like Fortnite and Rocket League.
The developer behind Roblox has acknowledged the ongoing issues and is working on a fix. In a recent update to players, it confirmed: “We have identified the root cause as an internal system issue and are working on the fix”. According to its server status page, which is used to update players about known problems with the online service, every aspect of the platform is currently listed as experiencing “Service Disruption”.
Independent service DownDetector, which tracks the performance of web services based on reports from users across social networks, shows a steady stream of complaints about Roblox. In the UK alone, some 1,500 users are complaining about problems with the performance of Roblox every minute.
In the United States, that number rises to well over 2,000 complaints every minute.
While this is still a pretty small percentage of the total number of 43.2 million-strong fanbase who rely on Roblox each day, there is clearly something awry with the service. The company has confirmed that it is searching for a fix.
Roblox share the history and creation of the game
According to an official report from the Roblox server status site, the gaming platform is down across all platforms, including Website, Mobile App, Xbox App, Games, Studio, Asset Delivery, Data Store, Game Join, and Avatar.
The good news is that the Roblox support team has confirmed that engineers are looking into tonight’s outage, posting: “Many player experiences are impacted. stay tuned.” However, no ETA on when Roblox servers will be back online today (Saturday October 30, 2021) has been shared, and there has been no word on what has caused the outage.
