Red Dead Redemption fans, are you ready to get your creative juices flowing?
Thanks to some new sleuthing from prominent dataminers in the Rockstar community, it's been revealed that we may see a massive new feature added to the Wild West sandbox very soon.
A dataminer who has been trawling the code of the Red Dead Redemption 2 's companion app found references to the Rockstar Editor back when the game came to PC, according to Rockstar Intel .
The feature allows players to create, edit, and share their own video creations by using in-game locations, items, characters and props. It's like a creative movie-maker baked into the game's engine.
Flush with advanced editing tools that allow you to choose the camera angle, speed of shots, soundtrack, and more, the mode is a community favourite in GTA Online – so we imagine it's going to go down a storm in Red Dead Redemption 2, too.
The mode didn't make it out of the Rockstar oven in time for the game's PC release on November 5, but it looks like we haven't got much longer to wait.
It's suggested that the update will arrive in-game in time for the title's launch on Steam in December, too.
Sadly, we don't specifically know when this will be at the moment, but Rockstar has confirmed that we'll be seeing the game drop on Valve's PC platform sooner, rather than later.
"Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC will also be available to purchase on Steam this December," the company revealed back at the start of the month.
Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Review – 4/5
– Reviewed on PC
In a world where developers who design experiences for console and try throw them on the PC, Rockstar Games beautifully takes its time in creating a port that both serves the artistic purposes of the original while allowing players to run free in their best open world to date. Just make sure your PC is up to standard.
The real verdict will shine once modders get their hands into the files and begin to create some crazy mods for the game – something which may be a major selling point for this PC version down the line.
The Good
The Bad
- Graphically demanding game paired with mediocre optimization makes for a lot of PCs getting stressed
- Still a few bugs and glitches that need fixing
It seems it's not just the Rockstar Editor we can look forward to arriving in-game soon, either.
The latest Rockstar update for Red Dead Redemption 2 also notes that the next wave of big content will be announced relatively soon, with more information coming about a new Outlaw Pass (more or less a Season Pass for the game).
"Stay tuned for more news on the next Red Dead Online update soon, as well as details on the next Outlaw Pass, and head over to the Social Club Events page for details on all the latest special events, bonuses and discounts on offer," notes Rockstar on its newswire .
Expect a big update on the future of the game to land next week.
