Sony is about to unveil the PS Plus Essential games for September 2023. The next batch of free PS4 and PS5 games will be revealed at 4.30pm BST UK time on the afternoon of August 30. The games will be available to download and play less than a week later on the morning of September 5. With the PlayStation Plus Essential line-up about to be announced for September, fans have been predicting which games will join the service in the coming days.
In an entertaining predictions thread over on Reddit, multiple fans believe that Hitman 3 (World of Assassination) will join the line-up in September.
There are also multiple votes for horror platform game Little Nightmares 2. The timing would certainly make sense, especially after a third game in the series was announced during gamescom.
“Return to a world of charming horror in Little Nightmares II, a suspense adventure game in which you play as Mono, a young boy trapped in a world that has been distorted by the humming transmission of a distant tower,” reads the official description.
“With Six, the girl in the yellow raincoat, as his guide, Mono sets out to discover the dark secrets of The Signal Tower. Their journey won’t be easy; Mono and Six will face a host of new threats from the terrible residents of this world.”
Other fans believe Nier Automata will appear in the September line-up, alongside the likes of Hades, Tunic, Sifu, No Man’s Sky and Tales of Arise.
Needless to say, first-party games like The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2, Spider-Man and Gran Turismo Sport are all mentioned in the thread, as well as long-running prediction The Order 1886.

Elsewhere, cartoonish shoot-em-up Cuphead receives numerous votes, alongside Dark Souls Remastered.
Speaking of FromSoftware titles, other fans think Sekiro may join the line-up. With Armored Core 6 launching earlier this month, however, I’m not sure this will happen.
Likewise, some people are convinced Tekken 7 will join the PS Plus Essentials line-up. This seems unlikely considering Tekken 8 is coming soon.
In the meantime, subscribers can download the August 2023 PS Plus Essentials, which include PGA Tour 2K23, Dreams and Death’s Door.
