The latest lineup of free PS Plus games will be available to download very soon and PS4 fans got a bit of a surprise leading up to it. While subscribers already know that they will be able to download Vampyr and Need for Speed: Payback on October 6, another bonus briefly appeared. Without providing any fanfare or an explanation, Sony made Bloodborne available to download for free.
This came under the PS Plus October header, meaning you had to have an active subscription to add the classic PS4 game to your library.
One user confirmed online: “I was able to grab it but it seems like it was only up for a few minutes.”
Another adds: “I have no idea. I’ve only been on Plus for a year so I don’t know if this has happened before. But it saved me $20!”
As mentioned above, Bloodborne can no longer be downloaded for free from the PlayStation Store.
It’s unclear if this was just a bug, or part of Sony testing the upcoming PS Plus Collection for the PS5.
For those who might have missed that announcement, Sony will make it possible to download and play a collection of classic PS4 games on the PS5 via the subscription service.
PS5 owners with PS Plus will be able to download and play the curated library of PS4 including the likes of Batman Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5, Battlefield 1, Days Gone, Detroit: Become Human, Final Fantasy XV, inFAMOUS: Second Son, The Last Guardian, Mortal Kombat X, Ratchet & Clank, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and Until Dawn.
Back to October, and there’s only a short window open until September’s PS Plus games disappear.
