Pokemon Go is introducing a new limited-time event: The Pokemon Go Water Festival. Similar to past live events, you will have the opportunity to benefit from several bonuses and rewards available during the event window.

The Pokemon Go Water Festival will take place from Thursday, May 12, at 10 a.m. to Friday, May 20, at 8 p.m., possessing a lengthier event window than many limited-time events. This event will mark the debut of several Pokemon in Pokemon Go, offer limited-time event research events, and provide trainers with various in-game bonuses and rewards. Make sure to learn everything necessary about this event to take advantage of all its rewards and bonuses to the fullest.

Pokemon Go: Water Festival Event – Pokemon Debuts

The Pokemon Go Water Festival Event will mark the debut of a handful of Pokemon in this game. The following Pokemon will be available for the first time in Pokemon Go, starting at the time of this event's introduction.

  • Lapras wearing a scarf
  • Shiny Binacle
  • Dewpider
  • Araquanid

It will require 50 Dewpider Candy to evolve Dewpider into Araquanid

Additionally, the Legendary Pokemon Tapu Fini will be appearing in raids during the time of the event. Team up with other Trainers to take on this powerful Pokemon in Raids, presenting you the opportunity to catch it upon its defeat. Make sure to log in at the time of this event to encounter and catch these Pokemon new to this title.

Pokemon Go: Water Festival Event – Wild Encounters

During the event window, there will be several Pokemon that will be appearing more frequently in the wild. Log in during this time to experience an increased number of encounters with the following Water-Type Pokemon.

Pokemon Go: Water Festival Event – Raids

During the Pokemon Go Water Festival, there will be several Pokemon that will be appearing in Raids. These Raids will vary in difficulty, allowing you to take on less powerful Pokemon independently, but also require the assistance of additional trainers when challenging others. The following Pokemon can be found in Raids during the event window.

Pokemon Go: Water Festival Event – Eggs

During the event window, there will be event-specific Pokemon that will hatch from eggs. The following Pokemon can be hatched from 7 km Eggs during the Pokemon Go Water Festival Event.

Make sure to log in and adventure during the event window to hatch these eggs and acquire these limit-time event Pokemon.

Pokemon Go: Water Festival Event – Research

Global Challenge

Available from Wednesday, May 11, at 1 p.m. to Saturday, May 21, at 1 a.m. PDT, there will be a Global Challenge taking place. This will require you and other Trainers to work together to catch Water-Type Pokemon, earning a bonus for everyone. Globally, Trainers will have to catch a total of 600 million Water-Type Pokemon during this time, earning all Trainers 2x Catch Candy if successful. Log in during this time to contribute to this global effort in Pokemon Go.

Poni Island Special Research

The fourth Special Research story of the Season of Alola will also be available during this time, the Poni Island Special Research story. First appearing on Tuesday, May 10, at 10 a.m., this Special Research story will be accessible to all trainers. This will require you to complete several tasks in exchange for rewards and bonuses.

Keep in mind that if you complete all five Special Research stories by June 1, 2022, you will unlock a bonus Special Research line at the end of the season. All five of these Special Research stories will be available to collect and complete up until June 1, so make sure to complete them if possible.

Timed Research

There will be event-themed Timed Research available to you during the time of this event. These Timed Research tasks will focus on catching various Pokemon that will be available during the event window. The following rewards will be provided for completing the different Timed Research during the Pokemon Go Water Festival Event.

  • 50 Gyarados Mega Energy
  • 1,000 XP
  • 1,000 Stardust
  • Encounter with Lapras wearing a scarf
  • Encounter with Dewpider

Field Research Tasks

When completing Field Research tasks during the event window, you will encounter specific event-themed Pokemon as a reward. The following Pokemon can be encountered when completing different Field Research tasks during the Pokemon Go Water Festival.

Additionally, the completion of certain Field Research tasks will earn you either Blastoise Mega Energy or Gyarados Mega Energy. Log in and complete these different Field Research tasks to encounter event-themed Pokemon and receive these rewards.

Pokemon Go: Water Festival Event – Bonuses And Avatar Items

During the event window, there will be several bonuses active. Log in and play during the Festival of Water event to receive the following benefits.

  • Rainy Lure Modules activated during this event will last for two hours
  • 2x Candy from hatching eggs
  • Increased Candy XL from hatching Eggs

Additionally, the Water Festival Scarf will be available as an avatar item during this event. You can acquire this at the in-game shop during or after the event window, remaining available following its conclusion.
