With Pokemon Go's Season of Light coming to a close, it's time for a brand-new season of the Go Battle League, the PvP portion of the game. Like past seasons, this season, Season Nine: Mythical Wishes, brings important changes and updates to the Go Battle League, taking place from December 1, 2022, to March 1, 2023.
These changes include new cups and competitions, new Go Battle League events, additions and changes to Pokemon attacks, and many more. Below you can find everything you need to know about this season of the Go Battle League.
Season Schedule
Throughout this season, there will be at least two cups available to participate in at all times, rotating out on a weekly basis. Out of the two competitions available, one will be a standard cup, including the Great League, Ultra League, and Master League, while the other will be a special limited-time cup, placing unique restrictions on the Pokemon that can be used.
The schedule for this season's Go Battle League can be found below, showing which cups will be available each week of the season.
Each of these Cups will begin and end at 1pm PST.

Season Rewards
Guaranteed Rank-Up Encounters
Throughout the season, you will encounter specific Pokemon when reaching certain ranks in the Go Battle League. You will only encounter each of these Pokemon once per season, each found below with the rank needed to encounter them.

Standard Encounters
There will be different Pokemon that you can encounter throughout this season as a standard reward for winning in the Go Battle League. To encounter each of these Pokemon, you will have to reach a minimum Go Battle League Rank. These Pokemon and the Rank required to encounter them can be found below.

Go Battle League Timed Research Pass
Like last season, there will be a Timed Research Pass available at the in-game shop free of charge, starting at the beginning of this season. This Timed Research Pass will remain active for the entire season, progressed through winning in the Go Battle League.
Each page of the Timed Research Pass will require you to earn 100 wins in the Go Battle League, rewarding you with Stardust, Elite Fast TMs, Elite Charged TMs, and other items for each completed milestone and page.
Additional Rewards
This season, you will be given different avatar items for reaching certain ranks in the Go Battle League. These avatar items will be themed after Steven Stone from Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire and Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire.

Additionally, you will earn an Elite Charged TM if you reach Rank 19 this season of the Go Battle League. You will also obtain an Elite Fast TM at the end of the season.
Season Events
There are two Go Battle League events that are taking place throughout this season. Each of these events will provide you with 4x Stardust for rewards in the Go Battle League, as well as increasing your daily set limit from five to 20. The details for each of these events can be found below.
Go Battle Day
This Go Battle Day event will take place over the course of a weekend, available from Saturday, January 14 at 12am to Sunday, January 15 at 11:59pm local time. There will be Timed Research tasks related to battling during this event, providing you with the following rewards.
- Rare Candy
- XP
- Steven Stone Rings (Cosmetic Item)
- An Elite Charged TM
Go Battle Day: Vulpix
This Go Battle Day will be featuring Vulpix, taking place on Sunday, February 12, from 12am to 11:59pm. There will be Timed Research available throughout the entire day, rewarding you with the following rewards when completed.
- Rare Candy
- XP
- An Elite Charge TM
- Vulpix encounter
Additionally, Vulpix will appear as a guaranteed reward encounter for the Go Battle League from 11 am to 2 pm. During this time, Vulpix will have a higher chance of being Shiny when encountered, providing you with a good chance of catching this rare variation.
During this event window, all win rewards on the Premium Go Battle League track will provide you with an encounter with Vulpix.
Attack Updates
Attack Changes
Three attacks in Pokemon Go will be receiving changes this season, either improving or diminishing in overall effectiveness. These attacks are provided below with the changes that will be made to them.

Attack Availability Changes
Several Pokemon will be able to learn new attacks this season, which were previously unavailable to them. These attacks are provided below with Pokemon that will now be able to learn them.
To teach these new attacks to a Pokemon that you already have, you will have to use Elite or standard Fast and Charged TMs.
