2019 has seen a number of new free games released by both Sony and third-party publishers that require a PlayStation Plus subscription.
And if you have missed some of the most recent, we have a handy list of three PS4 games that can be downloaded and enjoyed for free right now.
And they’re not the only bonuses available, with a couple of new demos available to try out via the PlayStation Store.
This includes Modern Tales: Age of Invention and Zanki Zero: Last Beginning, both of which are recent additions to the PS4 digital library.
Modern Tales: Age of Invention is a hidden objects game and puzzler that focuses on the World Expo in Paris, 1900.
Invited scientists to the event end up being kidnapped, and it’s up to Emily Patterson, a daughter of one of the victims, to work out what has happened.
“The search for her father will mark the beginning of an extraordinary adventure that leads her from Europe to frigid Siberia,” the game description reveals.
“Emily will meet the brilliant people of the era like Coco Chanel, Albert Einstein and Ferdinand Porsche.

“Who is behind the kidnapping of the scientists? Will Emily find her father, overcome the obstacles and manage to solve the sophisticated puzzles and minigames?”
A demo version of the game can be download from the PlayStation Store today and doesn’t require an active PS Plus subscription.
However, the other recently released PS4 free games, such as Dead or Alive 6: Core Fighters, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, all do.
These can all be found on the PlayStation Store and will require those interested in playing them to have an internet connection and a PS Plus subscription.
It should also be noted that most of these games do not include all the features of the paid versions.
For instance, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a fighting role-playing game published by Bandai Namco Entertainment in 2016, boasting a solid review rating.
The Lite version of this game is free to download on PS4 but is missing most advanced online features like Expert Missions, Frieza’s Siege Events and Raid Events.
However, an owner of the full game can invite a Lite version owner to play an online Raid mission, so there are workarounds.
The Dissidia FF Free Edition lets players try out four different characters in online and offline battles.
These four pre-selected characters change every week, giving fans a chance to check out the likes of Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, Zidane, Tidus, Yuna, Lightning and more.
The only characters not available in the Free Edition are the post-release DLC fighters like Rinoa and Snow. The story mode is also unavailable in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition.
Dead or Alive Core Fighters follows similar rules, locking story mode and certain characters but making it possible to play with all those who own the base game.
It features multiple different game modes, including Arcade, versus matches and online play for multiplayer.
You can also check out four of the game’s roster of characters, including Kasumi, Hitomi, Diego and Bass.
Additional characters cost £3.29 each, while the Story Unlock Key is available for £15.99, making it possible to piece together which bits of the game you want access to.
These are just some of the recent free games released on PS4 and PS4 Pro, with more expected in the coming weeks and months.
