PlayStation confirms another State of Play is coming on September 24

Sony has announced that a State of Play stream will be coming later this month.

The Nintendo Direct-inspired streams have proven pretty popular with players over the past year, since PlayStation first adopted the format as a way of showing off more new about upcoming titles.

Now, Sony has announced the next State of Play will be hitting our screens on September 24th at 9pm, UK time (that's 1:00pm Pacific Time / 4:00pm Eastern TIme).

"We’re preparing a pretty hefty show, weighing in at around 20 minutes and sporting a fresh new look," announces PlayStation over on the PSBlog .

"And we’ll have some great news to share with you, including new game reveals, new content from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and a host of other updates. Should be fun!"

PlayStation makes a specific mention of the PlayStation 5, too… but it's bad news if you're keen for an update.

"Oh, and it probably bears mentioning: Don’t expect any updates related to our next-gen plans in this episode."

Boo. Oh well – the games news we're going to get will surely make up for the lack of news about next-gen. We hope.

What is The Last of Us: Part 2?

The Last of Us Part 2 is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

It is the sequel to 2013's critically acclaimed The Last of Us and follows on five years after the first game ended.

Though little is known about the games central plot, the Naughty Dog website does say this:

"In The Last of Us Part II, Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She’s had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships.

"When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits."

It's also worth noting that thanks to invites being sent out to media , we know that A Last of Us 2 media event is taking place on the same day – so you can expect the show to feature quite a lot of information about the game.

Will we finally see a release date? It remains to be seen.
