There are almost two dozen characters to befriend as you play through Persona 4 Golden, but among the more interesting of them is your uncle’s police partner, Tohru Adachi. He’s every bit the cheerful, bumbling cop, but there’s a depth to him you find as you increase his social link as well.
Your comic relief for Persona 4 Golden is easy to want to spend time with, but his social link progression is the most specific in the game – and it comes with a deadline, to boot. Here’s a little help on ranking up Adachi’s social link in Persona 4 Golden.

Adachi’s Persona 4 Golden Social Link, Explained
You can find Adachi to begin his social link as soon as 5/13, right after you’ve finished Yukiko’s Castle and the related story events.
After you’ve formally begun the Jester arcana social link by speaking to him at Junes after school, Adachi easily has the most specific availability of all P4G’s social links.
Because of the investigation, Adachi is only available on certain dates, and you’ll be unable to spend time with him if someone is in the Midnight Channel. Additionally, Adachi’s social link comes with an immovable deadline: you must get him to Rank 6 before the end of 11/1.
If you’ve gotten his social link to Rank 6 before this deadline, it will complete automatically with story progression from there, as long as you’re on a path to the good endings.
However, if Adachi is not at Rank 6 before you go to bed on 11/1, then his link will lock where it is. Adachi becomes unavailable for the remainder of the game.
How To Rank Up Adachi’s Social Link
Though Adachi’s availability may be different, his social link is progressed like all the others – by spending time with him.
Adachi covers your Jester arcana for Persona 4 Golden, so be sure to bring a Persona of the same arcana when you’re spending time together.

In order to reach Rank 10 of the Jester arcana, you need to be on the path to the Accomplice Ending.
Unless you choose specific responses in this scene, denoted by "Proceed" in the table below, you'll be ushered into the Bad Ending and the Jester social link will not max out.
