Outriders Has Been Delayed To April 1, Demo Will Release On February 25

It seems like today is going to be known as delay day. In a post on Twitter this morning, Square Enix announced that it has delayed the release of Outriders, the People Can Fly developed looter shooter. In a short note about the delay, the company states, “We will spend this extra time fine-tuning the game and focusing on delivering a fantastic play experience at launch.”

While that stings a little, at least players will be able to try out the game before its release. Next month on February 25, a demo will be released that includes access to both single-player and cooperative modes as well as letting you experience each of the four available classes. Essentially the first few hours of Outriders, progress made in the demo will carry over to the full game when it does release a few months later.

As I just wrote about King of Fighters XV, I would rather games get delayed so we can avoid a situation like Cyberpunk 2077. Considering the language used in this post, it’s not hard to assume that is what Square Enix is doing here. With Outriders releasing on last-generation hardware, there is a chance that some players may not be particularly enthused with the performance.

I doubt that the game will tax PS4 and Xbox One that much, but it is always preferable to play something before you buy it. Going in completely blind can wind up with you being burned…or possibly glitching through the world when trying to enter your car and getting flung into oblivion.
