In addition to cleaning trash and exploring the world in No Place Like Home, you can decorate to your heart's content. This gives you the freedom to decide where you want to grow crops, raise animals, and place important machines.
There are several different decorations and structures available, allowing you to create the farm of your dreams. In this guide, we are going to take a look at how to place and move items. You will also be able to place items within your treehouse if there is enough room. First, let's take a look at how to place an object for the first time.
Placing An Object
Placeable objects include buildings, decorations, machines, and field plots. All of these items can be placed on your farm by using it from your toolbar. For example, with a chicken coop placed in slot one, all you need to do is press '1' and you will be in placement mode.
When an object is red, it cannot be placed. This happens if there is not enough room, or if something is blocking the way. Additionally, you can rotate objects by pressing 'E'. This will turn the object 90 degrees.
Try not to place animal pens too close to other solid objects. Animals and items may get 'stuck', which makes them hard to get to.
Moving An Object
To remove an object, hover over it and press 'R'. This will cause a message to appear, asking if you want to move it. If you confirm, the item will move and go into your inventory, granted you have enough space.
Selecting items can be a bit difficult if you have a lot of stuff close together, so we recommend turning on the crosshairs, which display a white dot in the center of the screen. To turn this on, head to the settings menu and then go to the graphics tab. Here, you just need to click the circle next to "show white dot at screen center".
The crafting station and workbench cannot be removed; these are the two structures directly next to the stairs leading into your treehouse. Pressing 'R' while hovering over these two structures will not do anything. Additionally, the Robo Llama hut cannot be removed. This permanent structure will house your Robo Llamas and can be found slightly south of your treehouse.
Removing Objects That Contain Items
When you remove an object that contains items, such as seeds, recycled material, or animal products, you will receive the item as well. If you have a chicken coop filled with chickens that have an egg ready, removing the coop will cause all the eggs to drop on the ground.
It's important to know that if you remove an animal pen with no other place for the animals to go, you will need to give them additional food to re-tame.
For example, removing a chicken coop with no other coop available means that you need to give all of your chickens one potato again.
That's all there is to know about placing and moving items. Head out into the world and start exploring, you never know where you will find new blueprints for decorations!
