Nintendo Switch Lite’s first new colour has been revealed, and it’s lovely

Nintendo's dockless, portable-only Nintendo Switch Lite console has been pretty popular since its launch – proving that there is indeed some appetite for a handheld-only version of the machine.

The Switch Lite – which initially only launched in turquoise, grey, and yellow colours – is starting to see some more diversity now that the value of the machine has been demonstrated to Nintendo via strong sales.

To that end, Nintendo has announced a new version of the Switch Lite is coming, and it's a lovely pink colour that the company more accurately identifies as “coral” – nicely in-line with Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2019, 'Living Coral'.

Check out the new console below.

This gorgeous new console will be available in Japan on March 20th, with Nintendo noting that pre-orders will be available on March 7th.

The coral Switch Lite will be the same price as the other Switch Lite models: 19,980 yen (which is about £140, though thanks to the strength of Sterling right now, and import costs, Switch Lites sell in the UK with an RRP of £199).

Though there's no word about a UK or US release just yet, we're confident the lovely new machine will make its way to our shores – Nintendo usually brings new hardware across a little later once the launch machines are out the door.

It seems the launch and rollout of this new Switch Lite model won't be affected by the outbreak of Coronavirus(or CORVID-19), unlike the limited edition Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch, which the company has issued a statement about.

In its note to customer last week, Nintendo said it expects delays to the production and shipment of Switch consoles and Joy-Con controllers, as well as the Ring Fit Adventure accessories.

In a separate notice, Nintendo also confirmed that the new version of the Switch based on popular game Animal Crossing, which was only announced last week, has had its pre-order date postponed to an unspecified date.

The company did not say if it expected shipments to other countries to be affected.
