Nintendo Switch games surprise as popular PS4 and Xbox One port is revealed

Nintendo Switch game fans look set to be reward with a collection of popular titles that have already received great acclaim on PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms. Until now, the BioShock games developed by Arkane Studios have been made available on several generations of consoles. But Nintendo gamers have yet to see any of the trilogies become available to play on any gaming machine released by the Japanese hardware makers. And that’s saying something, considering that ‎BioShock Remastered can even be found on the Mac App Store.

But now it appears there are plans afoot to set this injustice right and have The BioShock Collection launch on Nintendo Switch.

BioShock: The Collection was launched on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2016 and features remastered versions of each title in the trilogy.

This means BioShock, BioShock 2, BioShock Infinite and the DLC content launched by 2K Games.

A few other bonuses were also thrown in and there seems no reason to think they wouldn’t be included in the Nintendo Switch version too.

“Return to the cities of Rapture and Columbia and experience the award-winning BioShock franchise like never before, beautifully remastered in 1080p,” the official Collection description reads.

“BioShock: The Collection contains all single-player content from BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite, all single-player add-on content, the “Columbia’s Finest” pack, and Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock, featuring Ken Levine and Shawn Robertson.”

The downside, for now, is that neither 2K Games or Nintendo have revealed plans for a launch on the Switch console.

Evidence for such a team-up comes from a ratings leak in Taiwan that was spotted earlier this week.

This may seem a little weak on the surface but many games have been leaked in this way in the past, giving fans an early tip-off before the big news is confirmed.

This might even suggest that Nintendo is planning a new Direct event to share news regarding BioShock: The Collection, among other new games.

But there have already been quite a few hosted in January already – one for Super Smash and Pokemon – that we may have to wait a few weeks for another such event.

When it comes to anything past the basic details, this new leak doesn’t provide much else past the BioShock games coming to Nintendo Switch.

There is no news regarding a release date or if any other changes are being made to the games.

We also don’t know for sure if these ports will share similar stats to those remastered and launched on PS4 and Xbox One.

Following the early sales success of the Nintendo Switch, third-party developers have been eager to port over some of this generation’s biggest games.

This includes titles like DOOM and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus from Bethesda, NBA 2K from 2K and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, from CD Projekt RED.

And there’s no reason to believe that more won’t make the switch in the future, what with the continuing success of the Nintendo console.
