Although Activision and Treyarch chose to delay the release of season one of Black Ops – Cold War and Warzone, that hasn’t stopped them from teasing the season with a new alternate reality game. The first revelation from the ARG, was that a new operative is being introduced: Stitch.
The “Zasha” website that was revealed yesterday finally hit zero this morning and asked for a code. A code that began broadcasting on some antique radios that were sent to Call of Duty Influencers. Entering the code “payback” took you to Call of Duty’s YouTube channel, where you were then asked to wait an hour for a video. Much, like the Pawn Takes Pawn ARG that took place earlier this year.
This time, however, you will be greeted with old radio equipment (the kind that would be at home in a high-stakes Cold War spy movie) rather than a TV and VCR. When the countdown hit zero, two people entered the room and started playing with some dials. During this time, another sequence of numbers was given, along with another countdown.
Deciphering the number sequence gave the code “Stitch is coming” When this is entered in the Zasha site, you are greeted with a dossier of information for Vikhor “Stitch” Kuzmin. We learn that Kuzmin was captured by CIA agent Russel Adler and—upon return to Russia—was thrown in a gulag, where he would be rescued by “a small team of unknown operatives.”
We have also learned that there is a new group operating in the Call of Duty universe. A group that is not part of the Soviet Union and has ties to a “Project Nova” which was first introduced in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops and has strong ties to Call of Duty: World at War. How this all relates to Warzone and Black Ops – Cold War is not known at this point, but there are still four more parts of Activision’s new Alternate Reality Game to get through, so there may be more answers coming.
