Normally when you’re a traveling gamer, the best way to go is to bring a Nintendo Switch along for the trip – but this guy had different ideas. On Thursday, a man was caught playing the popular battle royale game, Apex Legends, on his PS4 that was connected to an informational monitor inside of the Portland International Airport.
The monitor normally contained a map of the airport, so it’s easy to assume why the staff had a problem with it being used for gaming. After telling the man to stop using the monitor, he reportedly asked the staff politely if he could at least finish his current game. They told him that he couldn’t, and he disconnected his console without putting up a fight.
This story went viral after the above tweet was sent out by another airport passenger, although nobody was able to get any information about the bold gamer, who he was, or what exactly he was thinking. We do have to salute his dedication to gaming – but come on now, he had to have known this wasn’t going to last too long.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen gamers go above and beyond to play their beloved games. YouTuber Mr. Beast once won a game of Fortnite while sailing on a boat in the middle of the ocean, and OfficialDuckStudios is known for trying to beat Halo while doing ridiculous things like putting his TV in the oven and waiting for it to melt. We could all just relax and play games on the couch in our living rooms, but where’s the fun in that?
All things considered, we don’t blame the guy for trying to get in a few extra matches of Apex Legends, as the popular shooter is definitely one of the best multiplayer games to be released in 2019. With steady updates, new characters, and addicting mechanics, it’s no surprise that the Overwatch-meets-Fortnite shooter was able to gain so much popularity. That being said, be mindful of where you’re at when you’re gaming, and don’t prevent people from being able to see the map of an airport.
