How The Fortnite Hearts Wild Cup Works

Love is in the air, and the Valentine’s Day events are coming out in full force. We’ve already reported on the kind of event you can expect from Pokemon Go, but now we’ve got Fortnite chiming in with the brand new Hearts Wild Cup, a competitive Duos league which could end with you having a bunch of new in-game rewards. That’s if you play right, and often enough.

The event has just started, and that’s a lot to learn about how this is going to work. Epic has posted up a full explainer of their ruleset – including things you might not expect, like requiring two-factor-authentication on your account. If you’re interested in taking part in the Hearts Wild cup with your friend, then just read below for the essential information you need.

How Long Will Fortnite’s Hearts Wild Cup Run For?

The Hearts Wild event will run between February 9 and February 15 – 2021, of course. During this time there will be Community Battles called Hearts Wild Team Battles, and you’ll be able to rack up points in order to earn rewards at the end of the day.

The Newest Fortnite Battle Royale Ruleset

There are quite literally dozens of modified rules and small things to take into consideration during this event – far more than I could summarise here – so please do check Epic Games’ official full ruleset post here to get all of the information you need.

Earning Hype Points

Hype Points are what will set you and your teammate apart from everyone else you fight against, and yes, you’re going to need to win in order to collect a bunch of them.

For each game you’ll get at least one (1) hype point for participating, even if you get eliminated immediately. However, that number shoots up to 42 hype points for winning a game, so do your best and put your competitive skills to the test.

Moving Up Through The Leagues

The leagues in the Hearts Wild Cup are all separated by how many Hype Points you have, so yeah, you will want to earn as many of those as possible. There are ten separate leagues, and you’ll move from Open League, which has four divisions, into Contender League, with three divisions, and Champion League, which has another three divisions. If you want access to that top-tier league, you will need to earn at least 16,000 Hype Points. That’s a very tall order, even for the most dedicated of Fortnite players. Here’s how the leagues are separated by points…

  • Open League: Division I (0 – 249 Hype)
  • Open League: Division II (250 – 499 Hype)
  • Open League: Division III (500 – 999 Hype)
  • Open League: Division IV (1,000 – 1,499 Hype)
  • Contender League: Division I (1,500 – 2,499 Hype)
  • Contender League: Division II (2,500 – 3,999 Hype)
  • Contender League: Division III (4,000 – 5,999 Hype)
  • Champion League: Division I (6,000 – 11,999 Hype)
  • Champion League: Division II (12,000 – 15,999 Hype)
  • Champion League: Division III (16,000+ Hype)

Am I supposed to write this in the third-person? Do you know how awkward it is talking about yourself like you’re someone else? No one would ever believe someone else has this many nice things to say about me.
