GTA 6 release update: Popular PS4 and Xbox feature coming to Grand Theft Auto next?

GTA 6 release date news could contain a surprise update for fans who have gotten used to a certain type of gameplay in the Grand Theft Auto series.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 out of the way and soon coming to PC, most fans are wondering if it will be GTA 6 coming next.

So far, Rockstar Games has stayed quiet on their plans for the future but have provided plenty of hints of what might be changing with the next Grand Theft Auto release.

While yet to be implemented in GTA Online, there’s no questioning the fact that Battle Passes are the in thing on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Made widely popular with the success of Fortnite, many games have now adopted the microtransactions system.

And while many offer different things, most specialise in providing cosmetic rewards, both for free and for paid players.

And if Red Dead Online is any gauge of the future, there’s a good chance that a Battle Pass will be included with GTA 6.

One of the first Rockstar games to include such a thing is Red Dead Redemption 2, with the Outlaw Pass now available.

The current Outlaw Pass cost 35 Gold Bars to buy and offers 70 unlockable levels for players to work through.

Like other Battle Passes, it’s available for a certain amount of time, with the current Outlaw Pass ending on November 18.

We currently don’t know anything about the next Grand Theft Auto game, bar the rumours that keep popping up.

But we can guarantee it will include a massively expanded version of GTA Online, with plenty of new ideas expected.

So if the Outlaw Pass proves popular on Red Dead Online, we would expect a version of it in GTA 6 too.

GTA 6 is expected to be released on PS5 and Xbox Scarlett and not on PS4 and Xbox One.

There’s always the chance that Rockstar Games will look to make it cross-generational and would no doubt make a lot of money from the extra sales.

But GTA Online has become so popular and profitable; it would also make sense to make the best version of that which could stand the tests of time.

Another thing that has changed with the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 is the launch of a Rockstar game on a streaming-only service.

It was also recently confirmed that GTA 5 would become available on PlayStation Now in 2019, showing a change of course for the future.

So is this another factor to think about when it comes to the GTA 6 release date?

Google Stadia will have Red Dead Redemption 2 among its launch titles when it arrives in November.

So will the top streaming services also be vying to have GTA 6 on their docket when it arrives in 2020 – 2021 – or beyond?

This would change everything, making it possible to play GTA 6 on your phone or a low-spec laptop, with the help of a good internet connection.

We can’t imagine Google Stadia wanting to settle for waiting behind the likes of Microsoft and Sony to have it on their platform.

But with how Rockstar Games launches their games, consoles do seem to come first.

With the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC coming up, fans will be hoping for news on GTA 6 in 2020 or soon after.
