GTA 6 release update: Biggest sign yet Grand Theft Auto 6 news coming soon

Grand Theft Auto fans may have been delivered the clearest indication yet that Rockstar Games will soon announce news on GTA 6. GTA fans are currently enduring the longest wait ever for a brand new Grand Theft Auto game, with it over six and a half years since GTA 5 came out. It had been hoped that news on GTA 6 would have been announced by Rockstar Games following the release of Red Dead Redemption 2.

But 2019 came and went without any announcement on what Rockstar Games are launching next, and whether that title will be GTA 6 or something else.

And as fans wait for official news on GTA 6 they may got the biggest sign yet that a reveal for the next Grand Theft Auto is coming in 2020.

Recently Rockstar Games announced that both GTA and Red Dead Online enjoyed “record breaking” success over the holiday period.

And in that post on the developer’s official website they also teased what 2020 holds for fans.

  • GTA 6 release update: BIG Grand Theft Auto news for PS4 and Xbox fans

Interestingly, they said that this year will bring with it “big updates” as well as a “few surprises”.

While GTA 6 was not specifically mentioned, it could be a sign that news on Rockstar’s next project will be getting announced in 2020.

The post said: “There is still much more to come in 2020.

“Next up for GTA Online is the addition of an open wheel racing series featuring all new vehicle types – with tense, high speed, track-based racing where tight cornering, tactical tire choices and perfectly timed pit stops make every second count.

“Plus, expect more big updates and a few surprises as we move forward into the year.”

The news comes as fans have been left wondering whether an announcement on GTA 6 could be coming shortly.

  • Is GTA 6 coming out? Where will GTA 6 be set? GTA 6 release date?

Recently Rockstar Games put an advert up for a video editor role, with the job spec sparking speculating a trailer for GTA 6 could be in the works.

The news comes as an alleged leak claimed that GTA 6 could get announced in February with the first trailer dropping a few months later.

Alternatively, Rockstar Games may announce GTA 6 at a rumoured upcoming event.

It is heavily rumoured that Sony next month will announce the PS5 at a major unveiling event in New York.

And it’s possible that GTA 6 could get announced at this event.

That’s because another alleged leak had claimed that GTA 6 would be a timed launch exclusive for the PS5.

What’s interesting about this specific leak is it correctly revealed a number of PS5 features before they were officially announced by Sony.

Which could lend credibility to the claims made about GTA 6.

The leaker said that Sony had paid huge money to secure timed exclusive rights for GTA 6.

If that’s the case, then part of the deal may have been ensuring GTA 6 gets announced at the PS5 reveal event.

Which would also explain why there has been such a long wait for official word on the next Grand Theft Auto.

All should be made clearer soon enough, with February fast approaching.
