GTA 6 Release Date News: Grand Theft Auto actor has bad news for Rockstar fans

The long wait for a GTA 6 Release date announcment is no doubt excruciating for fans, but fear not, we have a feeling 2020 could be a year of big changes for Rockstar Games.

Not just because Red Dead Redemption 2 is now well and truly done with, except for obviously the post release Red Dead Online content.

But even then, its looking likely that we could be waiting until March or April for the next Red Dead Online Update and possibly longer for anything in GTA Online.

Those Rockstar Devs around the world have to be doing something. We know it's a year of transition what with the Sony PS5 and Xbox Series X launching at the end of 2020, but they're surely not just twiddling their thumbs.

In fact, if you believe what one report by Tech Radar suggests, GTA 6 has supposedly been in production as far back as 2016.

With all this being said, its sometimes possible that some slightly less reputable rumours do cut through.

And in the case of one more recently, it seems a former Grand Theft Auto actor caught wind and decided to set the record straight.

A week or so back, a video was released showing some of the GTA 5 cast at a convention in Brazil answering questions.

The video clip was posted online by YouTuber Gigamaster (seen below) and was from the same event where Steven Ogg (who plays Trevor in GTA 5) teased fans by suggesting GTA 6 was coming 'soon'.

And it appeared that a follow up clip also showed Shawn Fonteno getting in on the act, by also suggesting they were bringing CJ back.

For those unaware, CJ is the lead character from GTA San Andreas, ironically voiced by Fonteno's cousin Young Maylay.

Egging on the crowd, Fonteno said: “Well, I don’t know if everybody knows but Young Maylay is my real cousin in real life and he played the character CJ. But me and him we have something coming up. I just can’t talk about it right now.

“We might be bringing CJ back, I just can’t say.”

"To kill the rumors ! Im not involved in GTA VI at all.. Fucc @Rockstargames period.. CJ will have to be voiced by another MF but not me IDGAF what yall heard.."

We don't want to speculate as to the relationship between Maylay and Rockstar, but it seems fairly clear that we won't be seeing or hearing from the rap star anytime soon.

And certainly not in any capacity related to GTA 6, GTA 5 or GTA Online we imagine.

Strange given that it was only a few years ago that Mayley was actively winding up fans by teasing new GTA DLC on Instagram with his cousin .

So there you have it. Chalk that rumour down as nothing more than a dead end.

Don't worry, we're sure this won't be the only piece of news or rumour related to GTA 6 in 2020.
