Update 1.6 for Genshin Impact has a release date set for the next 24-hours that will help kick off a fresh character Banner, add a new map area to explore and provide a range of new features and quests.
Dubbed the Midsummer Island Adventure, the new Genshin expansion will send gamers out onto the oceans, where they will need to take on enemy towers, win races by sailing on a new boat called the Waverider, and take on a series of combat quests.
As confirmed by developers Mihoyo earlier this month, “The story begins when Klee receives a mysterious letter from a Dodo-King threatening to take Dodoco away from her. To help Klee and Dodoco, the Traveler will sail on a boat called a Waverider and explore a secluded archipelago scattered over a remote sea area.
“The Midsummer Island Adventure main event will be divided into four stages, each featuring unique gameplay. In the first stage, players need to sail on the Waverider and destroy enemy floating towers and encampments, either through firing your boat’s cannon or in close combat. In the next stage, players will be challenged in a race that combines both sailing and flying.
“The third stage will put your combat skills to test with the new opponent, Maguu Kenki. And finally, players will be asked to clear out nearby monster encampments with the aid of three kinds of Harpastum Bombs.”
The Klee Banner will also make up a big part of the new Genshin Imapct 1.6 release, with the five-star Pyro boosted drop rates during the “Sparkling Steps” event wish.
The Klee Banner will be kicking off as soon as Genshin Impact 1.6 update is available for everyone to download and access.
However, before the new chapter in the Genshin story can begin, players will need to wait for maintenance to be completed.
This scheduled to last at least five-hours, with gamers receiving compensation worth 60 Primogems for every hour the servers are down
Here’s what we know so far about this week’ Genshin Impact 1.6 maintenance schedule across PS4, PC and Mobile.

For gamers in North America, the new Genshin update will be available to download at 8pm PST on June 8.
The only downside is that this week’s Genshin Impact update will require servers to go offline at 11pm BST on June 8.
Maintenance will be performed across all platforms, meaning no gamers will have access to core features on PS4, PC or Mobile during this period.
Downtime is expected to start at 11pm BST and run for five hours, ending at closer to 4am BST.
It should be noted that there could be delays and extensions made to the current schedule, with developers Mihoyo providing the latest news.
A new message from the Genshin team explains: “To ensure all Travelers have the best-possible Genshin Impact experience, our developers will soon begin performing update maintenance.
After this is complete, the game will update to a new version. After Travelers install the new game client, they will be able to continue playing. It is recommended to install the update over a Wi-Fi connection owing to the large file size.
“While the update maintenance is in progress, Travelers will be unable to log in to the game. Please take note of the update time and schedule your game time accordingly to avoid losing your progress.
“Update maintenance begins 2021/06/09 06:00:00 (UTC+8) and is estimated to take 5 hours.
(Note: Precise timings are subject to change. Players may also experience disruption outside of this period.)”
