Fortnite Star Wars event time COUNTDOWN: Skins, Glider Leaks, lightsaber LTM

After the launch of Thursday's Fortnite 11.30 patch notes, we know that Epic will be adding a very special event to the game over the weekend.

Throughout the last week, we've seen in-game hints and advertising for a special in-game screening of a new clip from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Apparently, the event will even include a special cameo “with J.J. Abrams”, so it sounds as if the director will be appearing in-game in some capacity, too.

There hasn't been an awful lot of information about this update yet, but we imagine it's going to be similar to the Mashmello live concert that took place in the title back in February 2019.

However, as announced during the Game Awards, everyone that drops into the Fortnite Star Wars event will receive a free TIE Whisper Glider.

Keep reading for everything you need to know about the incoming Fortnite event.

Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker – Fortnite premiere: Start time

Fortnite's Star Wars event will take place on Saturday 14 December at 7pm GMT.

The event will take place in-game, so you're going to want to make sure you're online and ready to go by that time over the weekend.

There is currently no further indication about what time specifically the trailer will be shown.

Similar in-game Fortnite events in the past have lasted between 20 minutes and an hour.

The clip will be on shown at the Risky Reels point of interest in the game's map. This location is a drive-in cinema that first appeared in the game during the game's first Season.

Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker – Fortnite premiere: What to expect

As of the Fortnite 11.30 update, we saw slightly more information about what to expect in the in-game event.

Some new Star Wars data strings were added to the files of the game during the update. They are:

– Your favorite Star Wars episode?
– Who's your favorite character?
– What's your Lightsaber Color?
– Trilogy

It looks like players may be able to vote on these questions, and perhaps J.J. Abrams will answer questions in the event, or respond to players in real-time during the premiere.

If Mashmello's event and the premiere of a clip from Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet are anything to go by, weapons will be disabled during the event, too.

Fortnite x Star Wars event leaks

Some dataminers have discovered that a TIE Fighter might crash into the Fortnite map during the event.

This was discovered by dataminer FireMonkey, who went on to say:

“Here is what will be crashing into the island during the Star Wars exclusive scene! Textures are missing from this leak but I wanted to get it out ASAP”.

The dataminer then added: ”There WILL be a playlist specifically for the Star Wars exclusive scene.

“Not only this but it appears a Star Wars themed live event will happen afterwards, leading up to tons of challenges and something from the Star Wars universe "Crashing" onto the island.”

Fortnite x Star Wars event challenges and LTM

Dataminers Lucas7yoshi, a name familliar with most Fortnite fans also uncovered that there are several challenges which could drop for Fortnite Battle Royale, however, at the time of writing they are encrypted.

It's also looking likely that there will be a special lightsabre LTM for players to experience.

ShiinaBR, another Fortnite leaker well-known to fans, wrote:

"There is a high chance that we'll be able to play with lightsabers in the Star Wars LTM!"

"These are 4 colors of the Star Wars "Lobster" weapons (probably file name for the lightsabers) that have been found in the files: Red, Green, Purple & Blue"
