Florida Mutineers Partner With Cleveland Browns, Columbus Crew SC For “Ballers Vote, Voters Game” Event

The Florida Mutineers of the Call of Duty League have teamed up with NFL team Cleveland Browns and American soccer team Columbus Crew SC for a virtual event to promote voter registration. The online event will give those who register or are already registered to vote in the upcoming presidential election a chance to play Call of Duty: Warzone with professional athletes.

The Cleveland Browns and Columbus Crew SC both operate under the Haslam Sports Group. The Group also owns a minority stake in Misfits Gaming, the parent company of the Florida Mutineers. The teams have come together to encourage fans to register to vote in the 2020 presidential election. The Haslam Group maintains a non-partisan stance, though wishes to “emphasize the importance of voting” to fans.

“By engaging players and fans during this special event, Haslam Sports Group is excited to extend its non-partisan voting campaign efforts, along with the Florida Mutineers, to emphasize the importance of voting and to provide our community with important educational resources,” said Haslam Sports Group VP Community Relations Jenner Tekancic. “We are all navigating unique circumstances this year, and it is more important than ever to continually raise awareness about the voter registration process and making a specific plan to submit a vote. Whether it is someone’s first time voting or if they are a seasoned voter, it is essential that everyone is fully prepared to get their ballot in on time for the 2020 election.”

The Ballers Vote, Voters Game event will mainly take place on Discord, where registered voters will be joined by professional athletes in games of Call of Duty: Warzone. Call of Duty is one of the most popular video game franchises to ever exist, and the Warzone battle royale mode has regularly dominated Twitch viewership since its release earlier this year.

Once the event goes live, athletes from both the Cleveland Browns and Columbus Crew SC will join random Warzone lobbies and Discord voice chats. Players will partake in Q&A sessions throughout the event, open for all participants. Prizes will also be on offer for those who are preparing to vote on November 3rd.

A Discord server meant to aid in non-partisan voter education is now open as well. Giveaways, promotions, and additional events will be held throughout October in order to “prepare the community for Election Day.” The Ballers Vote, Voters Game event is scheduled to take place on October 26th, beginning at 8pm Eastern time.
