Final Fantasy VIII Remastered release date set for September

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered has been given a September release date in a new trailer.

Shortly after the opening Gamescom presentation, the Final Fantasy Twitter account confirmed the 1999 classic role-playing game will release 3 September on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam.

Unlike the upcoming Final Fantasy VII remake, this is a more traditional remaster of Final Fantasy VIII boasting ‘new graphical enhancements’ and increased options to customise the experience.

While it isn’t as beloved as other entries in the franchise, the PS1 title has gained a die-hard following over the years. It also means all the mainline entries will be available in remastered form.

The remaster was originally announced back in June this year, alongside The Last Remnant Remastered on Nintendo Switch.

You’ll have longer to wait for the full remake of Final Fantasy VII, which launches on 3 March, 2020 on PlayStation 4.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered releases 3 September on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
