Square Enix has revealed Final Fantasy VII will be out in less than a year, although the new trailer will still make the wait unbearable.
We’re not sure why, given their pre-E3 media briefing is tonight, but Square Enix has just revealed the answer to one of gaming’s great unanswered questions: when will Final Fantasy VII Remake be out?
The answer is 3 March, 2020 and only on PlayStation 4. Which is a lot earlier than many people might have assumed.
To celebrate the news there’s a new trailer below, that just debuted at the Final Fantasy VII A Symphonic Reunion concert in Los Angeles.
There’s also some new key art featuring bad guy Sephiroth, but no other real information – with no reference to the fact that the original story has been split up into a number of separate releases and what’s out in March will presumably be only the first part.
Some rumours have suggested that the first release may only take place in the cyberpunk-esque city of Midgar and while that is the only location that’s been shown so far there’s no real evidence either way.
More will almost certainly be revealed during Square Enix’s pre-E3 press conference tonight, at what in the UK works out as 2am Tuesday morning.
That’s also when you’ll get your first look at Marvel’s Avengers, assuming they don’t decide to suddenly reveal that beforehand as well.
