Each Vault Hunter In Borderlands 3 Will Get One More Skill Tree

Borderlands 3 just got the last of its DLC, but that doesn’t mean Gearbox is done with the game. The developer just announced during its PAX Digital Showcase that it has more add-on content planned for the end of the year. While it did stress that it won’t be anything like the full campaigns featured in the season pass DLC, players will see one brand new skill tree for each Vault Hunter. Yes, that includes new Action Skills.

The biggest news out of the Gearbox PAX Digital Showcase is that Borderlands 3 is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X. Those versions will come with a free upgrade if you already own the PS4/Xbox versions, as well as new split screen co-op. To take advantage of the new wave of players these updates will bring, the developers are working on more paid add-ons. Aside from the skill trees, this will also introduce a new mode to Borderlands 3.

The new skill trees were teased by video of FL4K and their new “Trapper” tree. The accompanying Action Skill is Gravity Snare, a projectile trap that makes enemies float and then smashes them back down. This acts as an interrupt which, for those counting, gives FL4K their first crowd control skill.

Gearbox said that the Trapper tree puts more focus on survivability for both FL4K and their pet. This is accomplished with more shield abilities as well as, obviously, trapping foes.

The add-on will also give FL4K a new potential pet: the Hyperion Loaderbot. This lovable bot can be customized to suit varying playstyles – Gearbox showed it having an ION Loader that fires exploding novas, a BUL Loader meant for melee combat that knocks enemies into the air, and a WAR Loader that has an incendiary shotgun, grenades, and homing missiles.

As for the other Vault Hunters’ new skill trees, and the teased new mode, Gearbox plans to reveal those in the coming months. The possibility of Borderlands 3 crossplay was also hinted at. For now, players are probably still working on the recently-released Psycho Krieg And The Fantastic Fustercluck DLC. After that? We’ll apparently be learning soon.
