The first of a two-part story expansion for Doom Eternal will continue the game’s narrative and feature plenty of new demons to slay.
Doom Eternal’s first DLC expansion was already confirmed back in May, but we only had a few vague screenshots to give any indication of what to expect.
But now we have a title, The Ancient Gods Part One, and during Gamescom Opening Night Live we were graced with a short but sweet trailer that confirms it will become available this October.
Following on from the events of Doom Eternal, it turns out a couple of the Doom Slayer’s actions have caused a power imbalance in the heavens and, in turn, awakened an ancient evil he’s going to need to shoot in the face.
Aside from new story content, you can look forward to exploring entirely new locations, filled with plenty of familiar and brand-new demons to maim.
One example in the trailer appears to be some blue, spirit-like enemies that can possess and hide in other demons.
And towards the end, we can see the Slayer being confronted by two Marauders at once, incredibly tough boss-like enemies that once fought alongside the Slayer but have since been corrupted by the forces of Hell.
Anyone who has already purchased the Deluxe Edition of the game or the Year One Pass, which costs £24.99, will automatically receive the expansion, though it will be made available separately as well for £15.99.
Doom Eternal is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC. It is still due to release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
