Everyone's favourite Destiny PvP mode makes it long-awaited return to Destiny 2 this week, and it's coming in hot with some great new gear and rewards.
Destiny 2’s Season of the Worthy has kicked off earlier this week, and that means the return of Trials of Osiris every weekend for the foreseeable.
If you're new to this hardcore PvP game mode, it originated in the first Destiny game and basically acts as an end-game, high-level multiplayer experience.
So, ahead of the scrum of Guardians all racing to be the first players to reach the (in)famous Lighthouse, we've got all the information you need to know about this reinvented mode.

Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris – Start date and Start time
Trials of Osiris returns to Destiny on March 13, 2020, and it will likely be activated alongside the game's daily reset – and the introduction of Xur – at 5pm UK time.
From then on, Trials of Osiris will be a key feature of Season of the Worthy, and players will be able to access the PvP mode pretty much every weekend, likely running from 5pm GMT Friday through to 5pm GMT Tuesday.
For those unaware, 5pm GMT Tuesday is the Destiny 2 Weekly Reset.
Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris – PvP Rules
Like before, the game mode is 3v3 Elimination.
The most notable difference is that your Guardian's Power level now matters. You must be 960 Power to participate in the Trials of Oriris. Only the best Guardians need to apply.
When the Trials of Osiris playlist becomes active each week, players will be able to visit Saint-14 to get their Trials Passages (more on that below).
Saint's inventory will also be packed with Bounties (again, more further down), and the option to turn in Trials Tokens.
There is only one rule in Trials, win and win again. Try to get as many wins as possible before you hit three losses and have to start over. Manage to go flawless by winning seven matches with no losses and you'll earn a trip to the lighthouse to nab some of the best gear the game can offer.
Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Passages Explained
As mentioned, players can purchase a Trials Passages from Saint-14. This is your ticket to the rodeo, but also, they offer their own mechanics.
Each Passage will track wins and losses in a single Trials run, but only one Passage can be purchased at a time, but players can switch them out when new ones unlock.
The five Passage's available are listed below, along with each Passage bonus:
- Mercy (Always available) – Forgives one loss per run.
- Ferocity (Always available) – With zero losses, your Third Win grants a Bonus Win.
- Confidence (Unlocks after going Flawless) – Grants a bonus reward from the Flawless chest.
- Wealth (Unlocks at 5 wins) – Increased Trials tokens from completing and winning Trials matches.
- Wisdom (Unlocks at 7 wins) – Grants bonus XP from Trials Wins, scaling with the number of Wins on a Ticket.
Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Bounties Explained
As mentioned before, Saint-14 is also selling Trials of Osiris Bounties. There are three available and they will reward players with extra goodies when you complete them in the Trials.
- Weekly Bounties will reward XP, Glimmer, 35 Valor Rank Points, and 5 Trials Tokens;
- Daily Bounties will reward XP, 15 Valor Rank Points, and 2 Trials Tokens
- Additional Bounties will offer XP and 2 Trials Tokens.
Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards Explained
Now we're getting to the good stuff. Players who earn 3, 5, or 7 wins on their Trials Passage will be granted a Weekly Challenge Trials Reward.
Obviously, the more wins, the better the reward.
But once three losses appear on a Guardians Passage, wins will no longer count until the Passage is reset or a new one is purchased.
3 Wins on a single passage earns players Powerful Gear (Tier II)
5 Wins on a single passage will earn Guardians Powerful Gear (Tier III)
Whilst 7 Wins on a single passage entitles players to Pinnacle Gear as a reward for going flawless.
Do note though, that Pinnacle Gear will only be given once per week, per class. Equally, once the Chest has been opened and players leave The Lighthouse, a new Flawless Passage will need to be completed to return.
Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris – Medals and Triumphs
God bless dataminers.
Over on reddit's r/destinythegame, one diligent dataminer has uncovered more or less every achievable medal and triumph that will appear in the newly introduced mode.
There are over 30 medals and Triumphs for Trials of Osiris, and anyone that's got experience with the PvP element of the game will recognise some of the trends in here – elemental damage, weapon types, multikills and more all get rewarded.
